Ted Bundy was born on November 24, 1946, in Burlington, Vermont, and grew up to be a charming, outspoken and intelligent young man. However, by the time he was a teenager living in Washington, Bundy had already shown signs of the sadistic serial killer growing inside of him.

He indicated in investigations that he was antisocial and wandered the streets looking for neglected pornography or open windows through which he could spy on unsuspecting women; He also had an extensive juvenile history of theft starting when he was 18 years old.

By 1972, he had graduated from college and had shown great promise in a career in law or politics. This career was cut short even though he discovered his true passion, and viciously assaulted his first confirmed victim in 1974.

He tended to assault young, attractive college girls, first near his home in Washington, then moving east to Utah, Colorado, and finally Florida.

Bundy preyed on these women with a subterfuge, often wearing his arm in a sling or his leg in a mock and walking on crutches. He then used his magic and fake disability to convince his victims to help him carry books or unload items from his car.

He was also known to impersonate authority figures, such as police officers and firefighters, to gain the trust of victims before attacking him. As soon as they got into his 1968 Volkswagen Beetle, he would hit them on the head with a crank or a pipe.

After injuring his victims, he would immobilize them with handcuffs and force them into the car. Bundy had removed the passenger seat and often stowed it in the back seat or luggage compartment, leaving a space on the floor for his victim to lie out of sight as he drove away.

Bundy was able to rape and murder dozens of women in this way. He usually strangles his victims or beats them with batons as well as mutilates them after death. He then prolongs the events by returning to visit the corpses in the landfills or even taking them home to obtain more sexual gratification. In some cases, he displayed their shockingly severed heads in his apartment and slept with their corpses until the putrefaction made them unbearable.

Ted Bundy – The Full Story

As the body count rose and witness descriptions spread, several people called authorities to report Bundy as a possible suspect. However, the police have consistently excluded him based on his seemingly straight personality and elegant appearance.

He was able to avoid detection for much longer by learning how to leave almost any traceable evidence through the still primitive forensic techniques of the 1970s.

Bundy was finally arrested for the first time on August 16, 1975, in Utah after fleeing a patrol car. The search for the car yielded masks, handcuffs, ropes, and other nefarious items, but nothing conclusively links him to the crimes.

He was released but remained under constant surveillance until he was arrested again for kidnapping and assaulting one of his victims several months later.

Bundy escaped custody a year later after being transferred from Utah to Colorado for another trial but was arrested again within a week. He then escaped again on December 30, 1977, by which time he made it to Florida and resumed the killing spree.

He raped or murdered at least six other victims, five of whom were Florida State University students, before being arrested again for a traffic offense on February 15, 1978.

on January 24, 1989. At the time of his execution, Bundy confessed to having committed 30 murders, although the actual number of his victims remains unknown.
