Three years ago, the iPhone was getting the title of Pro as a marketing moniker rather than an indication that the phone was more professional than the rest of the series phones.

As for this year, the difference between iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max and between my regular iPhone 13 and the middle-class phone iPhone 13 mini does not just number. but rather details that only people long for, have always been waiting to get the best user experience that iPhone devices can offer.

Especially the experience of a screen with a frequency of 120 Hz, which iPhone users have been satisfied with hearing middle-class Android users have been talking about for a long time without Apple allowing them to try it, and it will remain the preserve of iPhone “Pro” users only.

The design of the iPhone 13 Pro is similar to the design of its predecessor, the iPhone 12, which in turn is similar to both the iPhone 11 and iPhone 10, and despite the modifications made to some aspects of the design, the four phones have one design imprint.

This policy of successive minor adjustments is not unusual for Apple, while users of competing flagships such as Samsung and Huawei – in its heyday – used to get a completely new design every two years, iPhone users used to wait twice as long to get a new design every four years. They’ll wait longer this time.

Returning to the design of the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, the two phones received final design improvements on a very narrow and limited scale. The two phones have a square body similar to that of its predecessor, the iPhone 12, with a stainless steel side frame that quickly fades from fingerprints.

From the front, you find the same wide notch that we have seen since the iPhone adopted the notch trend in 2017, which includes both the front camera and infrared facial recognition sensors for FaceID technology, but this year its size is 20% smaller compared to last year’s notch.

The cameras stand out significantly on the back of the phone, which is covered with Ceramic Shield glass, which provides four times more impact protection compared to the absence of it. The phone also has an IP68 standard for protection against dust and immersion underwater.

iPhone 13 Pro screen

The iPhone 13 Pro comes with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen. It’s indeed a bit of a long name but don’t worry you don’t have to memorize it, just know that it’s a pretty cool screen in every sense of the word. On the other hand, the iPhone 13 Pro Max comes with a similar screen, but it is only 6.7 inches larger.

The screen of the new iPhone is one of the most important improvements that distinguish it from last year’s phone, as it now has a pixel density of 460 PPI more than ever before, and for the first time it supports a high refresh rate of 120 Hz, a feature that Apple users have not yet tested, and they are waiting for it a long time.

If you’re an Apple veteran, and it’s the first time you’re hearing about this technology, your screen’s refresh rate is the number of images (or frames) your screen can display per second. The default refresh rate is 60 Hz, which means that the image is refreshed 60 times per second, which is good for a normal user experience. On the other hand, the higher the refresh rate, the smoother the display and the significantly improved user experience.

Unfortunately, it’s hard to tell the huge difference in user experience that a high refresh rate makes unlike other features; This is because it only appears when the device is used, but it suffices to know that the iPhone 13 Pro screen is more amazing and smoother than ever.

The screen also supports variable refresh rates, which means the screen can change its refresh rate depending on the content you’re watching. For example, when using the phone daily for gaming or browsing, the refresh rate is a maximum of 120 Hz, but when watching recorded videos or YouTube, for example, the screen tries to match its refresh rate with the video display rate, whether it is 24, 30 or 60 frames per second. If you use the phone to read, the screen can reduce its refresh rate to only one frame per second to save the most charge when using applications that cannot take advantage of the high refresh rate.

The performance

The iPhone 13 Pro comes with the A15 Bionic chip, like all new iPhone phones this year, which the company says is the most powerful processing chip currently available, and I can confirm its words with confidence without even having to look at performance tests.

You will not face any performance problems with the new chip, applications open simultaneously and huge games run very smoothly, especially with the high refresh rate.

Apple has provided users with many storage capacities to test from, you can get a phone with a capacity of 128, 256, 512 GB, and even 1 TB, which is a huge amount of storage that you will have to pay a lot of money to get. On the contrary, I forced them with only one option of 6GB of RAM for both the Pro and Pro Max phones, while the iPhone 13 and 13 mini come with only 4GB.

iPhone 13 Pro camera

The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have a similar camera system consisting of three 12-megapixel cameras, the main one with an f/1.5 ultra-wide lens slot, and a telephoto lens with an f/1.8 aperture zoomed into X3, while the wide-angle lens has an f/1.5 aperture. f/1.8, and a viewing angle of 120 degrees.

All the cameras got drastic and significant updates this year when we used to be limited to the main camera. Not only did the main camera get a completely new sensor that is larger, but the company increased the size of one pixel to 1.9 μm, which is one of the largest sizes that we have seen previously in any smartphone, add to that the ultra-wide lens f/1.5 to create a sensor that captures a huge amount of light, and more light necessarily means better pictures.

I don’t see any need to talk about the quality of the photos taken by the iPhone’s camera in good daylight conditions, as it has always been a great camera in all previous phones. And if we want to know its true ability, we have to talk about its performance in low light conditions.

The new main camera can handle more challenging lighting conditions without having to activate the night mode. In addition to improving the physical hardware, the company has also improved its image processing software in using HDR technology, thus improving night photos. The result is nighttime photos that are less noisy than before, an improvement in the dynamic range of light, and also a greater ability to deal with shadows.

The previous terms may seem strange and incomprehensible to most users, and often they will not pay attention to them or be able to know their importance, but they are really important details, they are what makes the phone worthy of its name Pro, and it is also what users pay an additional amount to get.

You will not find the X100 zoom as in the leading Samsung phones, Apple has satisfied itself with the X3 zoom only, which is the useful rounding ratio. The larger numbers are marketing numbers and you will find yourself rarely using them. The quality of the daytime photos taken by the telephoto camera is close to that of the main camera, and while the difference is clear in the night photos, they are still very good photos.

The wide-angle camera has also received improvements, which are reflected in both the quality of the day and night photos taken, but it is still a bit far from the quality of the main camera. The wide-angle camera plays a double role as a Macro camera for close-up photography thanks to its new auto-focus technology. All you have to do is bring the main camera closer to the subject you want to photograph, and the wide camera will automatically activate to be able to get close to two centimeters from the subject, and the result is a close-up image that is many times better than most of the macro cameras that we have seen in Android phones.

iPhone 13 Pro battery

Apple stated that the iPhone 13 battery will last an additional 90 minutes compared to last year’s phone, while the Pro version will last two and a half hours more, which is a long time if we take into account that the iPhone 12 Pro Max was one of the heroes of the year 2020 in terms of battery life.

The battery enables you to spend an entire day without having to recharge the phone during the day under moderate and relatively heavy use. The company attributes the increase in battery life to the new processor and more power-efficient screen, but I attribute the reason to the increase in battery capacity compared to last year.

Speaking of capacity, the battery capacity of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max is 3095 and 4373 mAh ampere, numbers that seem a bit small in the world of Android, which forgot about 3000 mAh years ago, but it is a point for Apple in the ability to achieve battery life More than enough using such capacity.

You won’t find a charger in the phone box this time either – and you won’t see it again – but the company offers to buy a separate 20-watt charger. While the capacity of the charger seems low compared to the capacity of chargers for Android phones that reached 120 watts in Xiaomi phones, it is perfectly suitable for the battery capacity and is able – according to the company’s statement – to extend the phone to 50% of the power in just 30 minutes.

iPhone 13 Pro price

My iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max come at the same price as my previous year’s iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, where the 128 GB version for the iPhone 13 Pro starts at $ 1,000, and $1,100 for the 256 GB version, and $1,300 for the 512 GB version. A 1 TB version is also available for the first time in iPhone phones, for $1,500.

If you want a larger screen and battery capacity, you can choose the iPhone Pro Max, which starts at $1100 for a 128GB version and goes up to $1600 for a 1TB version.
